Everyday tennis enthusiasts are getting the chance to win A$1m when they compete against elite players - including world number one Carlos Alcaraz - in a single-point showdown prior to January's Australian Open

Organizers of the Australian Open have revealed the Seven-Figure Quick-Fire Competition, which will match 10 amateur players against top-ranked players in a knockout tournament at the tournament grounds

Players will play 'the decision-making game' to decide who serves or receives, and whoever wins the point will advance to the next round

The champion of the event will take home a significant cash prize

Local players - or foreign participants who have signed up with the national federation - can compete in 'single-point competition' events at their local tennis clubs

The winners of the local competitions will then go into a draw, with a single non-professional from every geographic division selected to participate in the 'grand finale' in a nighttime event on the specified date
