LA Explodes in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Secure Back-to-Back World Series Championship
The City of Angels experienced citywide festivities after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series title. Supporters worldwide joined local residents in celebration, marking the first time in 25 years that a team has achieved consecutive championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Enormous Crowds
Los Angeles area celebrations included a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.
Online footage depict countless of Angelenos flooding downtown streets, many displaying handmade banners and team flags. The squad was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the masses, hoisting the championship trophy high.
“My focus is already about the next championship we’re going to achieve this,” the star player remarked through an translator.
The procession path ended at Dodger Stadium, where the players emerged to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and the artist cruising a Pacific blue classic car around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Celebrations began prior to the parade, with supporters lighting fireworks in the roads of the city center on the previous evening.
The World Series MVP, named the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, spoke directly about the victory.
“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto said. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
In contrast, the team owner was met with a less warm welcome at the rally. Recordings from the gathering seem to depict Walter walking onstage to a combination of cheers and boos, with negative shouts interrupting his speech.
The World Series acted as a bright spot in what has been a challenging year for Los Angeles. An approximate quarter-million people attended to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, supporters this year demonstrated as much if not more support.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” he said. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
