Manchester United Poised to Secure German Striker Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are finalising sealing the deal for prolific German forward Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Acquisition for United
The forward, with six months left on her contract, is known as a consistent goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. Her arrival is viewed as a major signing for the Women’s Super League team.
Her exit from Bayern was expected after she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the club's supporters after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
Reports in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its leading forwards. According to multiple sources, the formalities for the transfer are now finalised.
Reliable Goalscoring to Strengthen United's Attack
The 28-year-old’s arrival should represent a significant uplift to the team's attacking options. She has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- For seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the top scorer award in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Gathering Momentum at Carrington
Securing Schüller’s signature comes at a time when United appear to be building momentum.
Their recent on-pitch successes include qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

- The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since arriving in 2023.
Regarding the midfielder's extension, a senior figure stated: “She has become a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to control and dictate play from the middle of the park.”
