Seamer Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Worries.

'Significant concern' for England as Atkinson leaves the field with a hamstring injury.

Gus Atkinson added to England's injury problems upon exiting the field on the second morning of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

The right-arm seamer felt a problem in his left leg after the final ball of the fourth over on Saturday.

The England team reported the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and would spend time away from the action for further assessment "during the day".

The final Test of the tour at the SCG gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

England have previously lost key quicks one seamer to a knee injury and another paceman with an abdominal strain on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was called up as injury reinforcement.

Atkinson struggled early in the series, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was dropped of the third Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

The county bowler improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs while batting among just a trio of England players to reach double figures.

Post a single over at the end of day one, he came back for the second day's play and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

However, at the end of that over, he delivered a slower ball to the batsman and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Atkinson was brought back for the Melbourne match having missed of the third.
