The Details Known About the Those Lost of the Bondi Terrorist Incident
No fewer than 16 lives lost their lives and more than 40 were wounded when assailants opened fire at a Hanukah gathering at Bondi Beach, an attack local authorities have called a act of terrorism.
As of the newest reports, officials have stated the death toll is 16, encompassing one of the alleged gunmen. Furthermore, 42 people with injuries were taken to hospital.
Those who died are still awaiting formally identified, but police believe their ages range between 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
London-born rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first to be publicly identified.
Described as a father-of-five, he was the assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Family members and acquaintances remembered him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How can a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, meet his end in this way?” a relative remarked.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the arrival of their newest son just a few months ago.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, as stated by his wife.
She recounted the moments leading up to the shooting, saying they were standing when the gunfire erupted. “He shielded me because he wanted to stay near me,” she stated.
The husband and wife were both survivors of the Holocaust, having endured unspeakable terror in their youth. They had later relocated to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
The French foreign ministry have announced that French man Dan Elkayam is among the dead.
In a statement, the Foreign Minister expressed that France shared the grief of his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must combat,” the statement continued.
One Child
A 10-year-old girl who was rushed to the Sydney Children’s Hospital is among those who had died, according to police reports.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was a fatality in the incident, according to multiple sources citing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, a significant number remain receiving treatment, with a number in serious condition. Those hurt comprise two police officers who responded to the attack.
A casualty is a bystander who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the gunmen. Called a local hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. Sources state he was hurt and underwent treatment in hospital.
In a message, he described the scene as an “horrific scene,” but also noted the actions of those who came to assist. He stated he believed it was a “stroke of luck” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was another casualty in the shooting. He said he listened to “a large number” of gunshots.
“Initially, I believed it was something less lethal, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he stated. “I’ve been shot myself. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
